Is masturbating allowed for a woman?

A woman should not indulge herself with actions which arouse erotic thoughts. On the verse “do not stray after your heart and after your eyes…” – we derive that one cannot arouse erotic, promiscuous thoughts. Ultimately, non tznius conduct could bring about other negative behavior and possibly lead to Heaven forbid, outright promiscuity.

Indeed this is included in Das Yehudis (laws of Jewish women) which prohibits pritzus (non-tznius conduct).

Only during actual marital relations is there permission for the husband to touch the the vaginal area for the wife’s pleasure. However, there are those who are stringent to refrain from this as well by way of sanctifying oneself as Midas Chasidus (piety).

It is worth adding from Kuntreis Pokeach Ivrim chapter 9, where the Mittler Rebbe strongly admonishes women that they too must protect their eyes and thoughts. They should be careful not to gaze at the beauty of men or engage in idle chatter with men. For at night they could dream erotic thoughts and this could affect the children they give birth to, that those children will possess שלעכטע נאטורין (negative characteristics) Heaven forbid.
