What are the steps of taking cholent from a crockpot Friday night when you want the cholent to stay on the crockpot for Shabbos day?
You should take the pot out of the base first.
One may return the pot provided that one adheres to all the Chazara conditions:
- The food must be completely cooked;
- The food must be still warm when returning it to the crockpot;
- One must have the intention of returning the pot when removing it from the crockpot;
- One must hold the pot the entire time. See specific details about this in Halacha2go #414;
- There is foil in the crockpot to act as a Blech.
Additionally, one should cover it back when it is still off the crockpot.
