How should I put righty Tefillin on a lefty?

 

There are four options:

1. Put on the Tefilin Shel Yad backwards, so that the (usual) back of the box is facing down, and the Kesher will be on the inside (opposite the heart).

2. A less desirable option is to put it on the regular way, and the Kesher would be facing outside, and you would wrap the straps inwards.

3. A third option is, if possible, to manually remove the retzuah completely and put it in through the other side of the box. This should only be done if the yud of the tefillin is touching the bayis and facing the heart.

4. Alternatively, you can slide it to the other side and then twist the strap, so that you will wrap facing outwards (this should be done only with straps that are black on both sides).
