  • Ripping, tearing on shabbos, מלאכת כותב ומוחק

Can I open a package with words on it on Shabbos, if I avoid ripping the words but sometimes the words might rip anyway?

 

If it is possible to open the package without ripping the letters then one may attempt to do so even if there is a chance that he may accidentally tear the letters.
