Is there any way I can set up before Yom Tov a Zoom for the seder for my non-religious mother (who is alone) and family who generally drive on Shabbos or Yom tov to join us?

Question Continued:

There are three possible ways to do it:

  1. Turn on Zoom right before YT and leave the plug out so the laptop dies after 2-3 hours.
  2. Leave the charger in and my mother can sign on or off and join us for both sedarim and in general (my children know that she is not shomer shabbos and I wonder if this is the same as driving to us).
  3. Same as the first two but for the rest of the family.

Answer:

All three options are absolutely forbidden for all.

Some have irresponsibly promoted this idea without verifying with with poskim. Some individuals in the original group who conceived of this idea have backed off too. Some made it very clear that what they said was tentative if it receives an agreement from contemporary poskim. This idea has no basis in halacha and should not be considered of at all.
