The Paradox of Dreams

Question:

How does the opinion that a dream is a mere product of one’s thoughts not conflict with the prophetic nature of dreams?

We learn from some Rabbanim that dreams hold a lot of meaning and there is a lot of significance in how we interpret them. Then we also hear from other Rabbanim that dreams are usually just a reflection of our thoughts. How does this not contradict? I don’t understand.

Answer:

In short, they are both true. First of all, there are two types of dreams, some are based on his thoughts, and some are a prophecy. Also, the prophecy could come to him via his previous thoughts. It actuality, it all really depends on the actual dream.
