Edible Food Projects on Shabbos

 

I run a Shabbos kids’ program. I’m wondering if I can play Twizzler Pictionary with the kids (making pictures out of Twizzler strands which will be eaten after)?

In general, what are the guidelines regarding edible food crafts on Shabbos?

May one eat a cake/challah/cookie shaped as a number or letter on Shabbos? How about shaped as a picture?

Are edible sukkahs allowed?

—No.

 

What about frosting cupcakes?

— Yes, as long as you don’t make a design.
