Showing Art on Shabbos
Questions:
- On Shabbos, is it muktzah to touch drawings/paintings (either by going through a sketch book, or by showing someone a drawing/painting on a separate paper/canvas),
- or taking a drawing/painting that’s in a frame off the wall and showing it to someone)?
- Does it make a difference if the picture might smudge when you touch it?
- What’s if it’s a copy of the picture?
Answer:

- Permitted, if it is not inevitable that it will happen, or if any component of the painting will not get ruined.
