What are some Segulos to help when a baby is in a transverse or breech position?

  • Checking that the Mezuzos in the house are Kosher and properly affixed, especially the Mezuzah at the bedroom entrance, particularly if any Mezuzos are reversed or improperly placed.
  • Checking whether there are any Seforim in the house lying upside down.
  • Giving Tzedakah specifically on behalf of the birthing woman.
  • Reciting Tehillim 20 and 121.
  • Reciting a special Tefillah for the baby to turn:

  • Some women have the custom of immersing in a Mikvah, or the husband immersing.
  • The husband being honored with Pesicha, opening the Aron Kodesh.
  • Performing the mitzvah of Hafrashas Challah.
  • Reading Sefer Yonah.
  • Reading Megillas Esther.
  • Biting the Pitom of an Esrog.
  • Eating Esrog jam. (To note, however, that due to pesticides, eating Esrogim is generally not recommended nowadays unless properly prepared.)
  • Removing a bedroom door and rehanging it.
  • Additionally, some use natural methods to encourage the baby to turn, such as shining a flashlight at the bottom of the belly or playing music near the lower abdomen, speaking to the baby toward the lower back, burning mugwort herb near the baby toe (moxibustion), doing positions such as knees-to-chest or pelvic tilts, utilizing Spinning Babies techniques to create more room in the pelvis, or consulting a specialist physician to perform a manual external flip, which is a standard procedure used to help flip the baby.
