Some Shabbos Questions

 

Questions:

1. A cake that was cut (before Shabbos) to form the shape of a number – may it be cut on Shabbos?
2. May one place an overturned pan on a warming tray, and warm a Challa (without ice or other moisture) on top of it? The challa will reach yad soledes and the bottom will become extra crispy.
3. May one serve food from a pan that is on the warming tray?

 

Answers:

1. No. See the link below.
2. Permitted. Make sure it’s completely dry.
3. No, you should take it off first. If you plan on returning it to the hotplate, make sure to follow the rules of chazara.

 

May one eat a cake/challah/cookie shaped as a number or letter on Shabbos? How about shaped as a picture?
