It is Minhag Haolam, and unfortunately became a custom among Yidden too L’havdil, to make various pranks on the Secular calendar day today, under the name “April Fools”. is there any Heter to do such a thing? Is this clear out Gneivas Daas? an example, people would say something like “guess what? I won a raffle and I’m going to Eretz Yisroel next week. I have one free ticket. do you want to join?”

 

It is definitely not Mentshlich and not fit for a Yerai Shomayim to engage in such activities. There may be an exception if the intent is just to make someone happy (if this can be accomplished by playing such jokes).

In regard to your specific example about saying you won a free flight for two, there is a Machlokes Haposkim if there is Geneivas Daas in respect to gifts. However,  this is only regarding how big of a gift one is giving and not if he will be getting something at all and/or only regarding Goyim.

בנוגע לעצם הענין של גניבת דעת במתנה: ביו”ד סי’ קיז מביא השך שאין במתנה משום גניבת דעת ומציין לסי’ סה אבל גם שם מדובר בנוגע למתנה לגוי אבל בקשו”ע סי סג סעי’ ד הביא (בסוגריים) דין זה בסתם ונראה עפ”י פשט שזה רק כשהוא נותן דבר ולא שמטעה אותו ואינו נותנו כלום.
