Sof Zman Krias Shema in the Mikvah
Question:
It happens sometimes that I forget to say Shema in the morning before going to mikveh, and as I’m in mikveh I realize that it’s almost sof zeman Kriyas Shema.
Is it permissible in such a case to cover oneself with a towel (and yarmulka) and say Shema in the dressing room. (If I’m afraid that by the time I get dressed it will be after sof zeman).
Answer:
Generally, one should first say Brachos and Shema and only then go to the Mikvah (unless one is a Baal Keri, in which case one should go to the Mikvah first – provided one will not miss Sof Zman Kerias Shema, of course).
As for saying Shema in the dressing room of a Mikvah, this should not be done. One can run to the outer room where all are dressed. There is also room to permit doing so in the mikvah under certain conditions.
