Removing cleaners tags & opening a new shirt on Shabbos
Questions:
Can one open a new shirt from its package on Shabbos?
Can one remove the threaded attachments to a suit?
Can one remove a cleaners tag on Shabbos?
Answers:
1. Opening shirt package:
Since the package is generally not glued together, one may open it on Shabbos (if it is glued closed it should be cut on a different area than the glue). One should always be careful not to tear any letters on the package. Removing the plastic/metal pins that hold the shirt together is fine. However, the cardboard as well as the pins are muktza and may not be moved. The solution is to open the package over the garbage and drop the muktza straight in.

2. Threaded attachments:
If they are only looped around a button or with slipknot, it may be removed.
3. Cleaners tag:
It is obviously preferable to remove a cleaners tag before Shabbos. If this was not done, one may remove it on Shabbos.
