How to prevent an Ayin Hara
Question:
Sometimes, usually when I’m going through a rough time myself, I find myself having envious and spiteful thoughts when I see someone who seems happy while I’m upset or succeeding when I am failing. I don’t wish any harm on any yid, and I don’t have any ill will, but these thoughts just pop up, and then I become worried that harm will chas vshalom befall the person due to my envious thoughts.
My question is: is there a way to prevent an ayin hara from taking effect when the yetzer hara puts these thoughts into my head?
Answer:
I don’t know if this is something that actually helps, but it is brought in similar situations that one should say that it should not be an ayin hara.
However, really, you should not look at their things and what they have. You should also remember that you don’t see the full picture, and a person who appears to have everything going for them may be struggling. This will help you avoid feeling envious.
