We forgot to plug in the crock pot of cholent before Shabbos…

 

Question:

We fully cook the cholent before Shabbos in a pot and then transfer it to the crock pot. Last Shabbos we forgot to plug in the crock pot.

Shabbos morning, the insulated crock pot was still warm.

We were doing the mitzvah of hachnasas orchim Shabbos day by having many guests.

Is it permitted to ask a non-Jew to plug in the pot? If it permitted to hint it to her?

We had children by the meal. Technically they could eat cold food, but they would be much happier eating hot meat. If that’s considered tzar for them, if they don’t have hot cholent and therefore we could have the goy put it on?

Did the fact that the cholent was still warm make a difference, or is the solution with cold cholent as well?

Does the fact that guests are coming make a difference? How about Kavod habrius? It would a) be embarrassing for a wife to just serve cold food to the guests b) not be so nice to the guests to give them a sub par meal.

 

Answer:

No.

But if you have a stovetop that’s covered with a Blech, you may move the cholent pot directly there, while it’s warm enough to the extent that a person would have enjoyment eating it like that. However, there should be another separation between Blech and pot.
