What To Do with Shatnez Material
Question:
I’m in the business of selling handmade clothing, and I accidentally purchased yarn which happens to be a mixture of linen and wool.
Please let me know what can be done with it: can clothes be made from it and then sold to a non-Jew, or if not sold, perhaps given as a gift?
Answer:
The yarn may be used to make clothing which will be sold for non-Jews, if it’s specifically made for non-jews, provided it is noticeable that it’s shatnez, due to a concern that the non-Jew might further sell it to a Jew.
Nonetheless, one should be careful when sewing not to have it on one’s body.
