Early Mikvah night on Friday Afternoon?

 

Question:

If mikvah is scheduled for Friday night but being that we don’t have a mikvah in walking distance, can she go Friday afternoon and wait until Friday night to be Tahor?

 

Answer:

She may not go Friday afternoon. Such a heter exists according to most poskim only on the eighth day, and not on the seventh day, and even then, only in a real extenuating circumstance, with certain conditions.

Also, the heter of toveling earlier often involves the proviso that she hides the fact that she toveled from her husband. Another condition is that she may not come home or to anybody else’s home in her town. Of course, all of this doesn’t work in your case. Many poskim even say that if she went on the seventh day, she must tovel again at night.

There are very exceptional rare cases which some might allow going on the seventh day, but these don’t exist here.

It might be advisable to relocate for Shabbos to an area with a mikvah, if possible.

ומצינו להדיא בדרכ״ת לב בשם דבר יעקב פב-ג בבני הכפרים שחל טבילתם ביום ז בע״ש שיטבלו ביום א׳. ורק בשעה״ד גדול יש לצרף עבוה״ג סימן כ והב״ד בסד״ט (שם, ושם ד ד״ה עוד נ״ל) בביטול ב׳ עונות. אבל בסד״ט התיר בכה״ג רק בשמיני. וראה השקו״ט בטהרה כהלכה כא הע׳ 49.
