If one opens a jar of peanut butter on Shabbos and there is oil that separated out floating on top, may it be mixed back in to the peanut butter?

 

Usually this would be permitted. It’s still better to do it with a shinui. However, if the peanut butter became hard or dry, it should not be done, only with two shinuyim.

 

כמה צדדי היתר, לישה אחר לישה, שמדלל ולא מעבה, וגם יש לדון משום נילוש בליחות עצמו אף שפירש כבר. גם י״ל שאין לישתו חשובה והוא תיקון אוכלים בלבד, שרק מייפה מאוכל. אבל אם נתבטלה לישה ראשונה יש להחמיר.
