Article: Dough with Non-Sweet Filling

Baked goods that has a filling can be considered mezonos if two conditions are met: 1) The filling is the primary ingredient. 2) The filling is sweet. It is then called pas haba’ah bekisnin, and its brachah is mezonos.

If, however, the dough is filled with meat, vegetables, or non-sweet cheese, its bracha is hamotzie, as is a pie made with hamotzie dough and a non-sweet filling. Obviously, if the dough is mezonos, the brachah is mezonos, regardless of the filling.
