Playing with fireworks and HaGomel

 

Question:

My brother was playing with a firework today and it exploded in his face! It was a miracle he didn’t get a scratch! He just had to wash his face for a few minutes to remove the powder…

Does he need to say hagomal? Anything?

 

Answer:

One who needlessly places themselves in a dangerous situation does not bentch hagomel. He may say it without Hashem’s name if he wishes.

Other ways to thank Hashem:

To have this in mind when saying the bracha of hagomel chasadim tovim in the morning Brachos, when saying modim in shmone esrei, and saying borchu in shul (preferably by buying and receiving an aliya).
