Is it permitted to remove herbs from water on Shabbos?

 

Question:

We usually keep herbs like parsley, dill etc. in water to keep them fresh longer.

Is it permitted on Shabbos to take the herbs from water?

My question is about whether it is a prohibition of מלאכת קוצר/תולש in removing herbs from the water.

 

Answer:

It would be borer. This may not be done unless you are eating the herbs immediately.

There would be no prohibition of kotzer etc. unless they sprout and start to take root.
