If one does Teshuva, and he says that he will never do a certain thing ever again, is that a vow or not?

 

Question:

תשובה is וידוי, חרטה, וקבלה על להבא. If one does תשובה, and he says that he is מקבל upon himself never to do a certain thing ever again, is that a נדר or not?

 

Answer:

This isn’t an issue.

 

שהרי מושבע ועומד מהר סיני. וראה אג״ק יז ע׳ כח. ולהעיר מהנהגת החוזה מלובלין לענין תשובה, בס׳ בשם מרדכי ח״א כתבי מא״ה לקוטי בשם אות לו בשם החוזה. וראה אצלנו בקובץ אור ישראל סא ע׳  רנ.
