Smoking marijuana on Pesach

 

I was asked on Mivtzoim if it’s OK to smoke marijuana on Pesach or there’s a problem with it?

 

Answer:

For ingesting marijuana:

If it’s medical marijuana that a Dr. prescribed for an ill individual, and it’s a pill then it would be allowed.

However if not, it poses a halachic problem. Besides for the issue of kitniyos, it would need to have a Hechsher like any vitamin, as it’s made with a variety of ingredients which need to be verified that they are kosher in general, and for pesach specifically,

For smoking or injecting marijuana:

Hard to use the specific term kosher (fit for a Jew) to eat since it is not kosher for a Jew to smoke or inject marijuana, for the following reasons:

• ונשמרתם מאד לנפשותיכם,
• והייתם קדושים,
• בן סורר ומורה,
• כיבוד אב ואם
