Is it ok to listen to the daily Rambam?
Question:
I have a lot time at work where I could listen to something on my phone. But not read. Is it ok to listen to the daily Rambam. Is there a point though in me bedavka reading the Rambam or can I do it like this?
Answer:
Certainly, there is an advantage in learning Torah from a recording. However, there are aspects of the mitzvah of Talmud Torah which are not fulfilled in this manner.

Do I need to make Birchos HaTorah before listening to a shiur?
Regarding the takanah of learning Rambam, since on of primary purposes is to fulfill the mitzvah of Talmud Torah, it would appear that listening to a recording isn’t sufficient, at least l’chatchilla.
