Do these Pesukim on the sweater require it to be placed in Shaimos?

 

Question:

I have a sweater that was designed with the words “וטהר לבנו לעבדך באמת” and “כל מי שאומר אמן”.

Are these enough words to require Genizah?

Also would entire sweater require Genizah or could it be cut out?

 

Answer:

1. In general, וטהר לבנו לעבדך באמת does not require Genizah unless if it was written with the intention of a Tefilla to Hashem. There are those that are stringent regardless.

The entire sweater doesn’t need to go in Genizah and you may cut the words out.

2. The words כל מי שאומר אמן doesn’t require Genizah.
