Kol Isha and AI
Question:
If a woman sings a recording and then puts it into AI and changes the voice to a male voice, is there any issue of kol Isha?
Answer:
AI-generated music generally follows the same Halachic guidelines as regular music.
If the final product fully resembles Jewish music in its lyrics, rhythm, message, style, and overall character, then it is treated as Jewish music, regardless of the fact that AI generated it.
Non-Jewish tunes, listening during Sefira or the Three Weeks, or issues of Kol Isha* – those same concerns would generally apply to AI music as well.
*Regarding Kol Isha in AI-generated music:
The Rebbe once mentioned (שיחת ש״פ בלק תשד״מ) that there is a discussion in Acharonim if this issur applies when listening to a recording. However, the Rebbe continued, this discussion has no place when one conducts himself according to milsa dchasidusa, as according to all opinions this does not lead to Yiras Shomayim, and therefore one would not consider going to Rov to ask a question about such a matter. It would be negated by him completely.
