Is it allowed to tie the front and back strings of Tzitzis together with a ponytail holder, to keep them neat?

May I put a little rubber band around my three year olds tzitzis strings.( Where the knot is) in order to keep them on the sides, neat and not move. The rubber band will be coming off either every night or to be washed. Not making anything permanent.

 

Answer:

It is ok to hold the tzitzis together with a rubber band. However, sewing the actual garment would be problematic.
